Think BIGGER...

Think bigger.  Forget limits. Embrace the idea of endless possibility, it will change you.

I am a big fan of Marianne Williamson's work and remember reading this on a facebook post she had years ago.  Like some of the other quotes I've already selected for this blog, this one brings it back to reminding us that the possibilities are endless, if we only dare to think bigger.  I think it's a message that can't be shared enough, especially with a traditional education system that teaches us to stay within the boundaries of everything.  It takes practice and repetition.  Think about one limiting belief that you have about yourself. Really take the time to think about it.  If you need some help, take a look at the areas in your life in which you feel challenged... that's a space filled with limiting beliefs.  Now, think differently about it.  Even a seemingly set in stone position or situation can shift with the slightest of changes in belief about what's possible.  You never know unless you try!

All that we are...

All that we are is the result of what we have thought.  The mind is everything.  What we think, we become.

It's amazing how powerful our thoughts can be.  There are some people that say we only use 10% of our brains, while others discount the scientific validity of that claim.  I am a big believer in the idea that our thoughts are powerful players in our lives, and we are what we think.  Now think about it, how we think and what we spend our time thinking shapes everything that we see, do, and experience in life.  It's SO important to be conscious of what we think.  With multimedia platforms, television, movies, facebook, blogs :), email, and tons of different ways to be distracted, we often loose sight of what we are thinking.  In fact, we begin to believe that what other people think is what we think, without even checking it against our own personal morals, values, and beliefs.  It is easy to be bombarded with messages and think that they are your own thoughts.  We are in desperate need for a call to critical thinking - not to critique others, but to examine our own thoughts and imaginations.  This quote is dedicated to everyone who is on 'auto-pilot' as a reminder to think about your thoughts and move them gently and intentionally in a positive direction.

If you approach each new person...

If you approach each new person in a spirit of adventure, you will find yourself endlessly fascinated by the new channels of thought and personality and experience that you encounter.

This was one of my favorite quotes, especially in college and as embarked on grad school.  It was a reminder to approach each person I met in a 'spirit of adventure.'  It was a reminder to recognize all that others have to offer, and I think leads us to respect one another a little more.  One of my former bosses in Boston used to say, 'You never know, the next person you meet could be the most important person in your life,' which definitely aligns with Eleanor's sentiments in this quote.  Just a friendly reminder to recognize and honor yourself and others.

Powerful new ideas...

A mind once stretched by a new idea never regains its original dimension.
